PowerGirls* – The Film is a short film project that was developed in 2022 by and for Black youth in Berlin-Reinickendorf Ost. The film centers on the everyday experiences of Black girls* with racism, the challenges they face at school and within their families, their search for identity, friendship, and empowerment.

The idea emerged from the group's desire to tell their own stories and make their perspectives visible through film. As Black lived experiences in Germany are often marginalized or misrepresented, the project provided an opportunity for the participants to express themselves creatively while drawing attention to social injustices.

The film is not only about representation but also about self-empowerment. The girls* themselves decided which topics to address and how they wanted to be portrayed.
